Just wander if somebody could help me to find answer for my problem. I mark IP packets on device connected (laptop’s NIC) to HP 1920-24G with DSCP 46 – so packet which ender switch is marked with Expected Forwarding value. Do I need to do anything else to make sure this packet will be prioritized and send out as soon as possible or it will work automatically? Will packed has the same DSCP value when exit AP or I have to mark it again on the device?

HP1810G-24 - Trunk transmitted packets with errors

Hi there,

I have two static trunks set up with two ports each. These are connected to two ESX hosts, each with two NICs, connected to a standard vSwitch and an IP hash load balancing.

In "Status/Port Summary" of the web administration page, under "Trunk Statistics", I'm getting a large number of "Transmitted Packets with Errors".

I'm not sure how to diagnose these. Does anybody understand what this means and how to troubleshoot?

HP 1920 - extreme slow VLAN routing

i have new HP 1920-24G Switch JG924A, Software Version 5.20.99 Release 1106

there are 2 vlans on it - vlan200 (servers) and vlan201 (workstations)

i want to route between these vlans and assign vlan ip to each of vlan, i can see routing table

all servers have default gateway as vlan200 ip

all workstations have default gateway as vlan201 ip

if i plug some workstation in vlan201 access port, then i have transfer speed between this ws and some server 100kbps-1mbps

if i change this port to vlan200 access port (server vlan), i have transfer speed on the same workstation between ws and server - 100Mbps.

also i have several workstations in vlan201 without this transfer speed problem.

my network topology is a little bigger then i describe here, but i think its not important at this time

have you any idea, why in some cases i have extremely slow network speed?

thanks

HP 1910 802.1x authenticates, then drops

I'm used to working with 5400, 2910 switches and the CLI. I've tried to set up our 802.1x/RADIUS on a 1910-8 switch in an outbuilding, and it almost works.

On a windows 7 client I connect cable, enter credentials and I get placed on the appropriate VLAN for my userID, get valid DHCP address for my subnet.

Everything works for about 100-120 seconds, then the switch puts the port back onto the unauth vlan number and client computer can no longer connect unless you release DHCP and renew, then it gets an IP on the unauth(quarantine) vlan.

plugging/unplugging usually restores authorized service - again for about 100-120 seconds.

The client doesn't appear aware that anything changed, but a continuous ping will fail after the 120 seconds.

The RADIUS/802.1x/AAA works on all our 5400/8200/29xx wired clients and our WiFi.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Slow ProCurve 1800-24G switch

In my home office I have recently fitted a PROCURVE J9028B 1800-24G switch.  Ports 23T & 24T are LACP bonded to a Synology DiskStation.  Both PC's on the network are reporting 1GB network, the Diskstation is reporting 2 x 1GB networks.

When I initiate a file transfer from anywhere to anywhere (PC to PC, PC to DiskStation, etc.) I only get 50MB/s transfer rate.

Both PC's are using the Linux MInt OS. The DiskStation runs another flavour of Linux.

The switch is set up with DHCP off, so that service can be provided by the 1GB router (Draytek Vigor 2860n). All the switch ports are set as :-

Port Type: 10/100/1000-T

Link Status: Up

Speed/Duplex Status: 1000FDX

Flow Control Status: Disabled

Auto-negotiation: Enabled

Frame Type: All

PVID: 1

Any advice to get me up to a decent transfer speed would be appreciated.

Thanks,

HP 1910-8G and jumbo frames configuration

Hi there, I have an HP 1910-8G (JG348A) switch and am trying to view/configure jumbo frames configuration. I can't find any info on this feature in the manual, the web interface, or the CLI. I read elsewhere on the forum that it might automatically be enabled on some 1910 series switches, with no configuration settings available, but I'm unsure if that includes this particular model. Would anyone else out there have more info on this? Thanks in advance.

VLAN Setup on ProCurve 1810G-24

Hello,

I am amateur to the networking setup and maybe this i want to achieve to be very simple. So excuse my ignorance.

I have a router under a  block IP of 8 static IPs. I want the one of the 8 IPs to use it as the ip for my HP Procurve 1810g-24 switch and to create a VLAN in order all the PCs are connected to a second simple switch (hub mainly) through the port 3 to be able to access network/internet through the vlan with a simple lan IP configuration (192.168.1.xx)

The port 1 of procurve is used to connect the switch with the router.

So what i have done:

Lets say the static ip i want to use for VLAN is the 210.220.230.240.

1) i've setup the 210.220.230.240 ip as the procurve's IP address.

2) I've made a VLAN with  id 2 and name MAIN through the "VLAN Configuration"

3) I've change through the "Participation / Tagging" the port 3 for VLAN 2 to T (tagged) and all the others to E (exclude)

4) At the same time for VLAN 1 (Default) all the ports are U (untagged) except the port 3 which is E (exclude).

5) When going to VLAN Ports i see all the interfaces to PVID 1 but the interface 3 which have to be to PVID 3 is to "none".

Can you please help me with this configuration/setup in order to achieve what i want?

Best Regards

Configuring RSTP on the 1820 procurve switch

$

I have 5 - 1820-48port procurve switches that have all been enabled with vlan tagging/trunking and I can ping from Switch 5 to Switch 1 and back and forth and between users. Now the problem is whenever I apply Rapid Spanning-Tree protocol the connection will drop and I will not have successful pings. I have two trunks using the last four ports on each switch and when I apply RSTP the connections between the switches will drop and one of the trunks will be in the forwarding state and one of the trunk will be in the Discarding state.

Is this because I have the switches pretty much daisy chained together instead of providing that switch/link redundancy by using the star topology?

Let me know when you get the opportunity and this is all being configured through the web interface as these switches have no console access. Is there a way to access the CLI through the web interface?

Basically what I'm asking is how would you configure 5 HP procurve 1820-48 ports switches together with trunks, Spanning-Tree and get to function properly through the web interface????

Thanks in advance for helping me out

1810 v2 qos DSCP

I posted this in another HP forum and I was told I should probably post here

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-HP-Consumer-Products-and-Technologies/1810-v2-qos-DSCP/m-p/5146431/highlight/false#M20484

I've got an HP Procurve 1810-24g v2. According to the documentation it supports mapping DSCP to 802.1p.

I cannot find any documentation on how it maps the many DSCP codes to the 802.1p codes.

I could try to make an educated guess, but I have two conflicting thoughts on this

1) The 1810v2 maps the 8 802.1p codes to 4 internal queues. DSCP has 4 primarly classifications that they recommend, so I thought these 4 classes would map to the 4 internal queues.

2) There are 8 other DSCP classifications, 4 of which are subsets of the 4 primary classifications.

I have no idea if the 8 classifications map to the 8 802.1p classifications and would be prooperly mapped to the 4 hardware queues or if the first 4 classfications would be considered part of the 4 primary classfications and get mapped directly to the hardware queues.

Does ECN break these mappings? ECN changes the two rightmost bits in the ToS field, which is used by DSCP.

If the 1810v2 maps the 8 Class selector values to the 8 802.1p queues, the Class selector values don't use the 3 right most bits, so if the 1810v2 only looks at the left most bits, then it should be fine.

Hello,

Just as the topic says, is it possible to grab the ARP table from an HP v1910 switch via SNMP? I'm currently writing a python script that will provide the user IP address to port mappings. Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks in advance!

HP 1910 Gigabit Ethernet Switch Series Slow ports

Hi everyone,

I encounter a problem with a HP v1910 48 ports (not a POE model).

While there is no QOS configuration in any port, some (2 or 3) of them behave as if they were under bandwidth control.

Indeed, some ports are stuck at ~10 mbps, while others are stuck at 56 mbps~, but there are all configured at 100 mbps. Even if I configure them at 1000 mbps, nothing changes.

I checked again and again, even in CLI, but there is nothing that can explain this rate limit. I even try some changes from CLI or Web interface, but nothing changes.

Thanks for any help.
