Multicast Video Streaming

$

Hello,

I have a number of HP 1920-24G switches in a star topopgrahy across our building.

I am trying to stream video from a program called Wirecast via multicast on a computer attached to one switch to be read/played by VLC player on a computer attached to another HP switch.

Unfortunately, I haven't had any luck getting signal.

It looks like multicast and unicast suppression are at 100%. IGMP Snooping is active, Quierier is not active.

We have a Sonicwall NSA 3600 appliance for our firewallign needs.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Config file is attached below. We use a number of VLANs to control traffic

Hello Everyone,

On one of our 1920S Switch I have installed then newest firmware PD.02.06 but now there is no login page.
Also an power off / on bring no login page.
SSH is actualy not configured.

Is there an option the bring the login-page back or how can I switch to the "old" firmware?

Thanks for some tipps.

HPE 1920S Switch port dropping keeps dropping to 100M, WHY???

I have a HPE 1920S 48 port switch that is linked to a netgear unmanaged switch through a single ethernet cable which has 10 cameras connected through it and then on to a DVR through the HP switch. For some reason the port is dropping from 1000M to 100M and all the cameras drop out and everything stops working. If I reset either switch the port comes back up at 1000M and everythign works untill it happens again.

I have no idea why and cannot seem to find an answer so I'm asking here if someone can point me in the right direction as to why this is happening

How do I stop port 48 on the HP switch from doing this?

 48 Interface changed: [ifSpeed] '1000000000' -> '100000000'; [ifHighSpeed] '1000' -> '100'; [ifLastChange] '2018-12-21 17:25:06' -> '2018-12-21 17:30:04'

HP 1920S does not accept SFP...

Hi,

We have a bunch of 1910 switches where we use TP-Link' SM321A/B SFP modules.  These have been working flawlessly for years.

However when I insert one of these SM321 SFPs into a new 1920S switch, the port's status LED and the switch error LED start to blink slowly.  Why is there an incompatibility with 1920S and this generic SFP?  Any setting I can modify to get it working..?

Thanks a lot for comments on this.

HP 1810-24G V2 cant upgrade firmware to 2.08 or 2.10

Hello HPe Forums

When I try to upgrade my 1810-24G V2 J9803A switch to the latest firmware 2.10 I get an error. It says that the file is to large to be uploaded with http. I have noticed that firmware version 2.08 amd 2.10 are both .bin files and previous versions of the firmware are .img files. I upgraded to version 2.07 which is the last version on your site to be uploaded as a .img file without a problem. How do I resolve this issue?

1910-48G New VLAN Interface

$

Hi all; - I created a new VLAN on this switch and added an IP address via a VLAN Interface. It is showing an admin state of "up", but the routing table has not been updated and I cannot ping this address.

The firmware is 5.20 Release 1519P03.

Should the routing table be showing a direct route via the loopbak to this new VLAN interface?

Thanks,
Sam

Geolocation cannot be inserted into snmp location

We have some switches from 1810 series.

SNMP location field sais "Enter string with alphanumeric characters, hyphens, commas and spaces."

It means I cannot insert geolocation coordinates like [lat, lng] (eg. [40.424521, -86.912755]) neither brackets, nor dot are allowed.

Is there any chance that it will be fixed in a new firmware?

1920 JG924A - RSTP Root Port has incorrect Root Switch

$

Hi,

We have a network that look a little like this:

                        E ----> F

                        |

A ----> B ----> C ----> D

                         |

                         G

We've got RSTP enable across all switches, and for the large part, it's working as expected. The problem seems to be with Switch D in this example.

All the other switches in the diagram have switch A as the root, which is good, but switch D has elected switch C as it's root. On the root port of switch D, the Designated Bridge is indeed switch C.

To be clear,  AFAIK, the config works for all the other switches, e.g the root of switch F is switch A.

Has anyone seen this behaviour? Is there a setting in the config I'm missing? It feels like BPDU is being dropped somewhere.....

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I've been scratching my head for the last couple of days.

HPE 1920-48G-PoE S Series switches

Afternoon;

The company I work for has a whole saith of HP switches in their various sites up and down the country. My boss has bought into a new monitoring tool that essentailly works on SNMP. One of the things this tool can do is backup the switch configs.

Though this works fine for the more modern switches we have in the estate, not so for the older ones where it would seem the CLI is either locked down or non existant.

We have quite a few HPE 1920 S Series switches and though you can Telnet into them, they are it seems .by default locked down. In order to get a working copy of the config I have to enter a series of commands:

>_cmdline-mode on

> ( then answer yes or no to the question about going into 'developer' mode ) Y

>  ( Input the default password ) Jinhua1920unauthorized

Then I can run the 'backup-' commands.

Or course all this prevents the network software from running an automated backup!

Is there a way to set it to command line mode and leave it there, or at least a way of turning the 'Yes / No' prompt off?

Many thanks in advance.

Web interface no longer available after firmware update

Hello,

we are one school and have several switches HP J9660A.
After updating the firmware from PK 1.33 to PK 1.36 the web interface is no longer available. Several restarts did not help. We don't want to reset the switch reluctantly.

What can we do?

Thank you very much.

With kind regards

HP IP Console Switch G2 - unable to access it via ssh

Hello,

I have a HP IP console switch G2 with 16 console ports.

We had an incident and we had to reboot the HP console switch and I think its routing details got resetted.

I cannot ping it from an IP in a different subnet.

I have configured on the console 10.0.50.5/24. I can ping it from 10.0.50.7 but not from 10.0.53.5 for example.

I'm trying to connect through ssh to it using user&pass that we were using for https access and they are not working. The console switch is in a remote location so I cannot access is physically to make modification on it through console port.

If there's an easy option to repair this I could involve our 3pp who hosts our devices there.

What would be the easiest way to fix this?

Thanks!

Gentlemen,

I have a problem with my IP KVM switch.  I currently has firmware version 3.00.13.  It contains a ps/2 dongle firmware upgrade of 3.00.06.  With this software I can only get a 1024 x 768 resolution.

I have a few ps/2 dongles with 3.00.01 firmware.  I can get upto 1280 x 1024 resolution.

I need a copy of the OLDER firmware, that contains the 3.00.01 firmware.  I want to DOWNGRADE the firmare to prevent the dongle from being upgraded.

I looked on the website and I was unable to find a copy.  Hopefully someone has a copy of this file available on their servers.

Any help would be grealtly apprecialted!

Thanks,

HPE Officeconnect 1820-24g - having problems connecting to another switch while using vlans

$

Hi,

On the HPE 1820-24g I have the following connected ports:

1-12 PC and printers

21 - Connects to a Dlink dgs-1210-48(where another 30 pc are connected)

23 - Connects to a pfsense pc

Using only the default vlan(id=1) everything works with no problem.

In pfsense I've created a new vlan(id=30) and want to connect some pc on the hpe and dlink switch to his vlan.

On both switches I´ve created the vlan with id 30(vlan30).

On the hpe-1820-24g :

  • on port 13 vlan30 as untagged and vlan1 as excluded(port vlan id = 30).
  • on port 23 vlan30 as tagged, and vlan 1 as untagged(port vland id = 1)
  • on port 21 vlan30, vlan1 as tagged(port vland id = none)

A pc connected to port 30 gets its correct vlan ip via dhcp from pfsense(port 23)

The pcs connected thru port 21 which are also vlan30 don´t get and IP address while pcs on  vlan1 do. The port on the dlink which connects to the hpe also have vlan1 and vlan30 tagged.

This is the first time using vlans, am I missing some configuration on the HPE 1820-24g? Is there any way to know that the vlan30 tag from the dlink switch is coming through to the HPE switch?

HPE OfficeConnect 1920S Dot1x Issue

Hi,

I am trying to get Dot1x working with the OfficeConnect 1920S Switch, which can only be configured by the Web page.

I was able to complete the RADIUS server settings, which are working with ProVision and Comware based HP switches correctly. I have tested and implemented the RADIUS settings on many switches up to this point.

The 1920S switch has Port Access Control - Admin Mode and Monitor Mode Enabled.

I have Force Authorized set on all, but one port at this point. This port is set to Auto.

I get to PAE State of Connecting and the device never gets and IP address or connected to the network.

I have tried doing it with Monitor Mode off and on and it will never work.

On the RADIUS server I can find the Event Logs showing it Authenticated properly and was allowed access..

On the Switch in the RADIUS Statistics it is showing that it received an Access Accept packet, but I am still not getting access.

Any ideas why?

"duplicate administrator" message when trying to log in on 1800-8g

When I try to log in on our 1800-8g switch, it displays "duplicate administrator" and "press continue to override"
Pressing "continue" does not override but instead just repeats the override message, seemingly forever.

What gives?
