HP 1920S Configure GVRP/MVRP

I am trying to find out if the HP 1920S switches are gvrp or mvrp capable.

The switch can do Radius dynamic VLAN assignment and creates the dynamic VLAN even if missing, but it does not have an uplink. This requires disconnected the device and statically creating the VLAN, which would be alleviated if gvrp/mvrp was available.

If a VLAN is created dynamically by Radius you cannot define an uplink (Tagged/Trunked) port for the VLAN as it says it was dynamically created and you cannot define settings for it.

This also means I have to statically create it at the uplink switch as the switch has gvrp on and doesn't know that the switch below is participating in the VLAN because gvrp/mvrp isn't on to let it know.

Essentially, every time I need to configure a VLAN statically on a 1920S, I have to do it statically at the above switch, as well. Adding an unneccessary amount of time for each VLAN.

HP 1920-8G corrupted

I have an HP 1920-8G (JG920A) that will only boot to the Bootware menu.  The config file will not load; both it and the backup are corrupted, it seems.  The only way I can connect is using a serial connection to the cosole port.  I'd like to restore to factory default, but it says "Password recovery capability is enabled. To perform this operation, first
disable the password recovery capability using the undo password-recovery enable command in CLI."

Unfortunately, I can't do that.  Is there another way?

I have updated firmware to apply but any time I try to do that via the Serial SubMenu, the XModem transfer errors out.

At this point I'm simply replacing the switch, but I need to know if the 1920 is effectively bricked or if there is a way to bring it back to life.  Thanks!

QOS on 1910, 1920 and others

hello everyone.

here my situation : I have VoIp-phone on my network. They are connected to the server by a tagged vlan
When we implemented the solution, we also create, with the help of an outside company, QOS attached to the vlan.

But my users are many to tell me they have issues like a little break on communication, or the sound dropping for few seconds, and mostly, the feeling to have a hash communication.
At first it has always on outside comminication, so we thought the issue came on the operator network.

But more and more i discover the internal problems as well. I search if the network was at full capacity at the moment, but no, i'm good here. Telephones' logs seem good too.
So i would like to make sure the Qos is working, and here what i find :
if i extract the configuration file on my switches (mostly 1910 and 1920), i can't a mention in any mention about QOS in the .cfg file.
I check on the graphical interface, the qos menu, and i don't see any.

So here my question : how can i implement QOS on those switchs (1910 an 1920) ?
i prefer to work on cli, but i take any respond.
should i implement the QOS on the vlan, or on each port ?

Also, if you add another idea where my issue is, i gadly take it.

Port mirroring HPE series 1950

Bonjour,

Merci.

Google Translated

Hello, I am looking to port mirroring (via web interface) on a HP series 1950 (model JG962A).

I configure my source and destination port, I register successfully. The problem is that after the recording, the source port remains the GE1 / 0/1 and the direction in "incoming".

The status of the mirroring port is "incomplete".

Result, impossible to make a configuration as I hear.

Would anyone have an idea to solve my problem?

Thank you.

Hi,

How can we detect Rogue Switch or Un-Managed switch being connected. In this case someone has connected Rogue Switch in his place and network admin is not aware, so network admin can catch such incidents.

Please advise

OS corrupted on 1920-8G - need to reload it

I have an HP 1920-8G (JG920A) that recently lost its mind; it only boots to the Extend-Bootware Menu, after saying that the config file is no good.  I tried using XModem to push a recent version of the OS (1920-8G-JG920A_5.20.R1121) to the device, which seemed to work until the next reboot, at which point it wouldn't boot up again and went to the EBM.  I need to know if the switch is formally borked or if I'm simply missing a step, or need to load and older OS to the device.  Thanks!

Suggestion for SSL/TLS configuration on HPE 1920S OfficeConnect Series

$

Hi HPE community,

I have a few suggestions on the SSL/TLS configuration of the HPE 1920S OfficeConnect Switch Series which I would like to share with HPE. I know, this is a community forum, but maybe this post is read by someone in the development team of that switch series and takes a look into the issue.

There are a few security problems with the SSL/TLS (HTTPS) configuration on this particular switch series:

  • Only Diffie-Hellman key exchange with 1024 bits is supported, this is considered very insecure. The switch should support at least 2048 bits for Diffie-Hellman key exchange or it should support ECDHE (e.g. P-256).
  • The switch supports ECC certificates (you can upload a certificate with P-256 as key type), but the cipher suite configured on the switch's webserver does not list any ECDSA cipher suite, so the handshake with a browser fails. In case you are adding ECDHE key exchange, please consider adding (at least some) ECDSA cipher suites as well (e.g. ECDHE-ECDSA-AES128-SHA256). This way, a user can upload an use ECC keys for HTTPS which would be nice to have.

I do not know which SSL/TLS library is used on the switch, in case OpenSSL is used, theese changes should not be too difficult to implement.

HPE 1920S JL381A Firmware

Hello Comunity!

A few days ago I bought a used HPE 1920S/JL381a with 24 port. At the moment FW PD.01.05 is installed. Tried to reseach what FW is actual. I only can see FW PD0.2.xxx. May I update to the latest FW? And may I update directly to the newest FW without any steps in between?

I hope someone can help me here.

Kind regards

Lutz
