HP 1410-24G-R UNMANAGED switch

Hi all!

i have a HP 1410-24G-R UNMANAGED switch; i am planning to purchase extra network cards in order to increase speed with Linux bonding. I read that not all switches are capable of that, they need to support balance-rr round-robin mode 0. Does this switch support it, or is there any other way around to get 220MB/sec RX/TX speeds?

Thank you in advance,

                                                   Kostas

HP 1920-48G JG928A Link Aggregation bug

$

Using latest firmware as of Oct 2015: 5.20.99 Release 1108

When creating a Link Aggregation Dynamic LACP from the station connected to the soon-to-be created Aggregated ports (trunk).  The new aggregated interface does not receive a "port link-type" and thus fails.  You loose ability to continue configuring the switch through the web interface.   Also may want to set a static IP on the switch if the dhcp server is behind the soon-to-be-created Aggrigation link.

Two ways to get around this issue are either:

a) configure the bridge from on a non-bridged port from another workstation.  And then go to Port Management=>Setup=>Link Type=>[choose one]=>Apply

b) download the config file, edit it, upload it, reboot.

The config file should with working Aggregation looks like this:

=== snip ===

stp enable
#
interface Bridge-Aggregation1
port link-type access
link-aggregation mode dynamic
#
interface NULL0

=== ...fold... ===

#
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/47
port link-type hybrid
port hybrid vlan 1 untagged
port auto-power-down
poe enable
stp edged-port enable
port link-aggregation group 1
#
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/48
port link-type hybrid
port hybrid vlan 1 untagged
port auto-power-down
poe enable
stp edged-port enable
port link-aggregation group 1
#

=== /snip ===

A config file with a broken Aggregation looks like this and contains no "port link-type ..." entry:

=== snip ===

stp mode rstp
stp enable
#
interface Bridge-Aggregation1
link-aggregation mode dynamic
#
interface NULL0

=== /snip ===

HP needs to patch the switch so that it defaults to some form of "port link-type" when Aggregation is first enabled.

HP1820 - how to setup QoS?

Hi.

We've bought a couple of HP 1820-24G-PoE+ (J9983A) and both are running PT.01.10.

The quickspecs for these switches says that they are compliant with DSCP or IEEE 802.1p and IEEE 802.11p/Q.

Yet, I have been unable to find where/how to setup the DSCP bits for audio/video [00 to FF (Hex)/0 to 63 (decimal)]. Where can I find such configurations on my switches?

Regards,

Rui

1920-48G Poe VLAN and DHCP

Hi everyone,

First thanks in advance for your help.

Here my project and issue:

I need to replace one of my 2 2510G-48 by a 1920-48G PoE. Actually we have 2 Vlan in place.

- The default Vlan 1

- vlan 50 we use for our voip.

With my actual setup everything just work fine. But i have somes issues when i place the 1920.

I attach a image just to show you our actual harware setup.

On my first swith the 1920the port are configured in this way:

Port 1-2 are trunked Untaggaed 1  LinkType: Access (Use to connect my DHCP server in the Teaming NIC)

Port 3 Untagged 1 LinkType: Access (Terminal server dont need the Vlan 50)

Port 4 Untagged 50 Link Type: Access (connect to the Voip Routeur DHCP for Vlan 50)

Port 5 - 44, 46,48 Untagged 1 Tagged 50 Link Type: Hybrid (Computer, voip phone, printer etc.)

Port 45-47 Untagged 1 Tagged 50 Link Type: Trunk (Link to my second switch)

My actual problem at this moment is everything get the IP address from the VLan 50 with the address 192.168.88.X.

Even if i connect my computer directly to a Hybrid Port i get a 192.16.88.X ip address.

I get some problem too from my trunk from port 1-2 to my server. My Teaming Nic get error on second card. Disconnected.

Someone have some idea for me.

Thanks again for your help

need to access HP 1920 48g remotely

Hello, and thank you for reading.  I need to remotely access an HP 1920-48g switch behind a Sophos firewall.  How do I go about setting that up?  I know that I need to create a rule in the firewall to enable port forwarding, but how do I configure the switch to do the same?

HP 1910 - Port Security

Personally, I wonder if the port-security can projeter my network arp attacks, and also to know if I can limit the number of mac adress per port. For example , leaving no more than two MAC Address and these mac had time to age for two days.

HP 1620-24G Switch JG913A - No Temperature

Hello there,

i recently installed a 1620-24G Switch.

When i was configuring it i noticed that there exists a temperature monitoring, but it always shows 0° to me.

Is that correct or is there something broken?

HP1920, LACP, stacking

Hello

I currently have my switches connected in a "fat tree" architecture. I receive two uplink cables and each is connected to an HP1920 switch. These uplink switches are the root of the fat tree. Then each server rack has one switch which connects to both root switches. This is shown graphically at http://pastebin.com/AxyS9gu1

We're now moving to a new datacenter, which delivers their uplink via LACP. This means that I need to figure out a way to achieve redundancy with the uplink switches, considering that LACP requires that the two cables are connected to the same switch.

Ideally I'd be able to do something like this: http://pastebin.com/d0yjJL7M

However, I believe 1920s won't support that configuration (i.e. two stacked switches, each receiving one of the LACP cables). From what I researched, I'd need a 2920 for that. Is that correct?

Other than buying new equipments, do you guys see any option for providing redundancy in this scenario?

Thanks in advance,
Andre

hp-1920G switch no temperature sensor?

I just received my 1920-8G non poe switch with the latest firmware 5.20.99 Release 1108 running normally. However I noticed that the temperature monitor in the Summary-->System information page is constantly 0 celcius degree. I looked into the manual of this switch located at

https://cdn.cnetcontent.com/2a/03/2a037c27-cafe-4338-9158-fe7c1f803021.pdf

and to my surprise on page 20 it has a screenshot of the system information page showing exactly the same I saw: 0 degree temperature.

So I wonder does that mean I received a faulty unit or that feature has not been implemented yet, or perhaps 1920 does not have a built-in temperature sensor at all? Thanks!

Switch HP JE006A v1910-24G - routing capacity inter vla

Dear,

I need help,

I have the V1910-24G equipment (JE006A) and I'm putting together a scenario where I have 6 Vlans and every vlan about 100 network devices (telephone, computer, servers, etc.) would be this L3 switch responsible for making the routing between these VLANs .

My question is: This equipment can handle manage these 6 Vlans and this number of devices? I have some performance problems in the future by adopting this network model?

Thank you so much

1920 Switch and QoS - Voice

Hello,

Anyone know what is the best practices to configure Voice VLAN on 1920 Switch with version 5.20.99.

First of all I define two vlans:

Data (10) and Voice (20)

What are the differences for the following port configs:
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1
port link-type hybrid
port hybrid vlan 20 tagged
port hybrid vlan 1 untagged
undo voice vlan mode auto
voice vlan 20 enable
port auto-power-down
poe enable
stp edged-port enable
lldp compliance admin-status cdp txrx
lldp voice-vlan 20

and

interface GigabitEthernet1/0/24
port link-type trunk
port trunk permit vlan 1 20
undo voice vlan mode auto
port auto-power-down
poe enable
lldp compliance admin-status cdp txrx
lldp voice-vlan 20

and

interface GigabitEthernet1/0/25
port link-type trunk
port trunk permit vlan 1 20
port auto-power-down
lldp compliance admin-status cdp txrx
lldp voice-vlan 20

I think all the different configuration will carry voice traffic.

So my questions are:

- How can I make sure all Voice Traffic should be trusted? (Assume the IP Phone mark voice bearer traffic with dscp ef and control traffic with cs3

- How can I remark voice as well data traffic in the configurations below with other DSCP values

- On a normal port with untagged vlan I assume all DSCP values will be set to 0?!

- In hybrid mode what happens with VOICE VLAN? Is the voice bearer and control traffic trusted (within the VOICE VLAN)

Thanks

Udo

J9137A Switch 2520 8-POE routing issue ?

Hi every body ,

I have a routing ? problem with a HP J9137A Switch 2520 8-POE.

When I set the IP ot this 2520 as gateway on every machines connected to it, they are enable to reach the Internet, nor I can access to them from the Intranet.

But I can ping them from the switch, and they can ping the switch. When I try a traceroute, I get nothing.

This is the topology :

                                                    .-,( ),-.
                                                 .-( )-.
                                                ( internet )

Yet, I added route like these :

ip route 192.168.1..0/24 192.168.0.252
ip route 192.168.2..0/24 192.168.0.252
ip route 192.168.3..0/24 192.168.0.252
ip route 0.0.0.0/0 192.168.0.254

But none worked.

Thanks for any help.

HP 1810-24G v2 Web Management UI unavailable

Hello,

I have been having a consistent issue for quite some time now with my 1810-24G V2. After a short perios of time (a few hours to a couple of days), the Web Management UI becomes unavailable. The only solution is to go to the rack, pull the power on the unit and have it reboot. At that time, the switch's Web Management comes back up. Lately, this has been causing a huge issue.

The switch is running firmware PL.2.04 on both images. Here is the system description line:

HP 1810-24G, PL.2.04, eCos-3.0, 1_12_8-customized-h

Any ideas on how to resolve this issue? From researching it, it looked like it was supposed to be resolved in code 1.17. Clearly, for my model, this is not the case.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

How to forbid internet access on a specific VLAN

Hello,

first of all, I'm all a newbie on networking stuff, I only know the basics of networks and no further.

I have a HP 1810G-24 model managable switch.

All I need to achieve is to prevent some of the computers that are connected to switch (let's say ports 20,21,22,23 and 24) from accessing the broadband internet (thru the modem connected to port 1 on switch) but still have access to the rest of the local area network, even those that are connected to ports 2 to 19.

In order to simplify, I have these questions:

1. Is that possible with HP 1810G-24 Switch? If so...

2. Do I need to create 2 different VLANs with different subnet masks, right ?

3. Can anyone give me a small information on how-to ?

Thanks by now...

1910-48G problem with mac-based Authentication across RADIUS

Hello!

The problem with 1910-48G. RADIUS server is set up according to instructions. Enable authentication 802.1. Authorization of a domain user via web / ssh / telnet is successful, in the log radius server writes all excellent. But the mac-based authentication does not pass. Radius server does not even come authorization requests. What could it be? Please help.

P.S. on switch 2920, I set up mac-based across radius a 5 minutes.

Switch port error not connected

I have a 24 port managed ProCurve J9450A switch.  I monitor it with a separate applicationn and am receiving 1273 received packets with errors.  Error is on port 11 for what it's worth.  Funny part, that port has nothing connected to it.  Shows Port Status: Down and Link Speed is blank.  I have cleared the log files before this happened so it's legacy information.  Thoughts?

Thanks.
