LACP in Procurve 1800 family switch

$

Hello,

I'm wondering if the LACP protocol in Procurve 1800's family switches is based only on MAC address or uses also IP informations. I need to configure link aggregation of two Qnap NAS and I'm not sure the level of LACP in use on the switch. I think it'd be , probably, just MAC based being a level2 switch, but I could be wrong either.

Has someone the answer to this point?

Thanks a lot.

Wildcard with macadress switch 1920

Hi everyone, good morning (at least here in Brazil).

So, I recently purchased a HP Switch 1920 (JG925A) and I am trying to do an ACL between all my network and my server. My need is to block all mac address to access my server, and only some computers will get the access to my server. In resume: block all (with mac address acl) and release some (also with mac address acl).

The firmware of the switch was updated to the last version (2017).

I do not find any document with the right procedure and/or the rigt mac address wildcard schema to reach my goal.

Thanks for the help.

HP 1920S, Mangement Interface, Certifcate, FW Update - Trouble, trouble, trouble ...

Hi,

the switches are really beta or not proved in praxis.

We have defined management interface in a non-standard-routed vlan, and firmware updates will not load without error message. You need a Server in the same subnet as the mangement interface, and its work ...

So it works with our test switch after 2 hours of testing ...

But with our switch in the real net its horrible. This switch has a own internal signed cetificat, and http management is out, only https.

AFTER upgrading from 1.07 to 1.08 the Switch restart, and it works as switch well, incl. sNMP.

But now the web server of the 1920S doesn´t work - port 443 (and 80) are down!!!

Because ohf HPE politic to reduce mangement port and don´t give telnet/ssh, the only connectiopn is dead.

You are so good, HPE .. and now?

Restarting the Switch doesn´t help, and i cannot press factory defaults because it´s a configured active switch.

where are your backdoors?

Your politic to give a complete new beta-switch technique the unique typ-Name "1920" as the proved old serie, is more as naughty

Hello, friends!

In network, switch 1920-8g has very high cpu usage. Over 70-80% used by process INFO. There are 2 end users connected and 2 trunk in switch. I replaced switch with another one 1920-8g PoE+ (65w),  (configuration the same). Everything remains as it was.

What is the objective of the process INFO?

Why INFO used so many cpu time?

VLAN temporary solution for a Mixed Environment With 1910/1920

Hello Everyone,

I have a small-to-none experience using VLANs, although I understand the overall concept. I went into a problem recently where one of my customers bought a few Access Points that should connect wireless guests to a VLAN, but his envinronment is not yet completely ready to use VLANs.

The company has 5x V1910/1920 switches and a few smaller ones from Planet that are "Vlan Transparent" as Planet says. I have a DHCP server running on VLAN100 (it's a mikrotik) and the Access Points area connecting GUESTS to the same VLAN100.

Apart from this DHCP server running on VLAN100, there's another DHCP server running on a Domain Controller. Those V1910/1920 are "unconfigured" (IE all ports configured as ACCESS and VLAN001).

If I move the Mikrotik and an Access Points to the same Planet Switch they are ok (Wifi guests receive IP just from the DHCP running on the VLAN100), but any other that need to transpass a V1910/V1920 can't connect to the DHCP server. As a temporary solution I considered changing all the ports to Hybrid and add a tagged VLAN100 to all of them. Should it work?

We are remapping the entire Network to set VLANs properly, but it should take a few days and we need to rush a simple solution for those wifi guests.

Thank you,

HP VLAN tagging on SFP

$

I am experiencing a few ssues with  our 1920-24G and 1910 switches. First the VLAN tagging is not working on the SFP port. Secondly when I want to save a configuration the system never comes back to say save succesfully this works perfectly on other switches though.  This however isn't critical as it seems to save it although it never confirms that it does. I did try different browsers as well.

The VLAN tagging however is an issue and it was tested on the Gigabit port 24 as an uplink and is working perfectly fine. As soon as we use the GBICS module with exact same vlan tagging on it, the end devices don't get an IP assigned. The GBICs modules used are both HP compatible and branded (J4858D and J4858C) Also the link is up between the 2 switches when using the SFP ports and data flow as expected except for tagging of the VLANs. When we switch to the copper on port 24 the Tagging works again. Both switches have been upgraded to latest firmware available.  I have  changed the link type from trunk to hybrid with no difference at all. Currently it is set as a trunk.

Hi,

I am trying to configure vlans across two switches, a 3com 4200g and hp 1910 48 port, I configured everything but the problem is with permitting multiple vlans on the 1910 trunk.

On the interface of hp switch I select the trunk port and select pvid vlan 2 for example, but how can I add multiple vlans to be tagged? it seems you can only add one vlan as tagged.

Serial : Confidential Info Erased

Merci,
  Olivier

Hello,

I have a switch 1920-24G HP whose port No. 1 to a link type to "hybrid" which allows me to connect my IP telephony server to this switch on a dedicated VLAN.

Although the speed of this port is auto and the port of the router to which this switch is connected is also auto, trading is only 100M while it should be at 1GB. If I force the speed to 1GB on the side of the router I lose the connection to the switch. Hence my question: Is a port whose link type is "hybrid" is limited in speed?

Thank you,

Olivier

Switches, VLANs and Configuration

Dear all,
I would like your suggestions on a network setup as I am fairly new to networking, we are about to upgrade the setup and I am going to take a deep dive into networks.
The new equipment includes HPE 3810 core switches and HPE 1910 48Port PoE+ as access switches. We are also planning to go to IP Phone solution so trunking is necessary for the ports that we be for workstations and ip phones.
The problem here is that users need to have access to Database/SQL servers via RDC so enabling IP routing for vlans communication without ACL (in the beginning) is, in my opinion, the only way to make the transition a bit smoother.

We currently have a 192.168.x.x/24 network and the new network will be something like:
IT: vlan2 - 10.10.2.0/22
Workstations: vlan10 - 10.10.10.0/22
Machines (industrial-engineering company): vlan20 - 10.10.20.0/22
WiFi: vlan30 - 10.10.30.0/22
Voice: vlan40 - 10.10.40.0/22

The configuration that a partner suggested for the HPE 1910 switches is:

Port 1 untagged vlan 2
port 2-48 untagged vlan 1 (Vlan1 configured with loopback address – no access)
port Trk1 untagged vlan 2, tagged 10,20,30,40
port 49-52 Trk1 LACP

Having every unused port disabled isn’t much better than leaving it active with no access?
I also don’t get why vlan2 (IT Mgmt) need to be untagged at port Trk1, having every vlan tagged isn’t best practice? So the port Trk1 can be set with all the vlans tagged?
Layer 2 switches will be used, at least 1 or 2 so I think tagging every vlan is essential, am I right?
I would like to have your opinion on all that and which configuration would you suggest for the vlans and the switches?

Thank you!

Hi, i am new to switch configuration. I have two switches, A and B as show in attached picture, switch A connected with internet modem and provide internet connection to switch B. PC at switch B need to access share folder pc at switch A for their share files.

I planning to subscribe another internet plan (internet B as show in picture) and direct plug in the new internet modem to switch B while switch B still connected to switch A for access to share folder and internet A. Because some user at switch B need to access to share folder and internet A.

May i know how do i assign particular port at switch B to access internet B only, and no access to internet A? Because some user at switch B are hogging internet A bandwidth and make internet speed slow down.
