HPE OfficeConnect 1920S - Default IP address VS VLAN1 interface IP address

$

Hi,

Please help understand the difference between the default IP address (192.168.1.1) and the IP address I assign to VLAN 1 under  Routing > VLAN/Interface Configuration tab

Does 192.168.1.1 go away when I give VLAN1 a different IP address ?

Thanks

HP1920S Trunk amount limitation

Hello,

I'm a bit confused at how the trunk configuration on a 1920s switch works. I Have experience with 1920.

I'm connecting 10 Unifi AP's to this switch. Each of the ports should be a trunk with the same VLAN configuration (One VLAN untagged, all others tagged).

Can I configure let's say one trunk and assign all 10 ports to this or will this create a LAG? Or do I need to confugere a sepparate trunk for each port altough the configuration for each trunk would be the same? In this case I'm a bit screwed.

Best regards

Geert

Loop Protecion

Hi All,

Hope you can clear / explain some problem we got.

We've got about 20 HP 1810-24G switches in our network. About 10 of them occasionally log that loop protection has enabled on port 23 (the uplink). But there is no loop in the network, also the log comes at random times on different switches. (so not at the same time). Some times for days nothing, and then about 10 time after each other. Also in the evening or at night, when nobody is at work.

We also got 6 HP 6200 fiber connection switches with STP enabled, these switches log nothing about loops of any kind.

In the attached picture you can see only one device is connected, but the uplink gives LOOP_PROT.

The are all on firmware P2.2

Is it buggy? of Faulty? Or.....

Hope to hear from you guys.

I've going at it for 4 hours now and have not been able to get SNMPv3 working on these type of switches.

No able to power any PoE devices with 1920S 24G 2SFP PoE+ switch

Hello, my first post here!

I have come around a weird bug while provisionning a HPE 1920S PoE+ switch.

I have two identical 1920S switch brand new out of the box, which I upgraded from the PD.01.05 software version to the latest version PD.02.05. On the first switch I had no issues at at and my Aruba IAP-207 worked perfectly. On the other switch I realized that not a single AP was coming up, but my non-PoE wired devices had a link and connectivity.

Upon starting the troubleshooting steps, I saw the logs showed the following error message on all switchports: <12> Dec 31 19:19:00 Auberge-SW-2-1 POE[poe_monitor]: hpc_poe_brcm.c(9473) 3325 %% Unable to get the PortStaus for port 24 of unit 1

I then reverted back to the original code version on the switch and saw other PoE related messages and still nothing was working:

3 Jan 1 00:04:52 Error POE Unable to Download Firmware to PoE Unit 1, Card 0
4 Jan 1 00:04:52 Warning POE Code downloaded onto the PoE chip is bad. Need new Code

I then went on and tried another 1920S firmware version (PD.01.08) which seemed to fix the firmware issues, as my APs were finally getting power to them. I noticed also some logs related to PoE.

<14> Dec 31 19:02:22 Auberge-SW-2-1 POE[PoeFirmwareUpgr]: hpc_poe_brcm.c(9170) 154 %% Unit 1: PoE controller firmware upgraded to 1.8.0.9
<14> Dec 31 19:02:22 Auberge-SW-2-1 POE[PoeFirmwareUpgr]: hpc_poe_brcm.c(10782) 153 %% PoE initialization is done for Unit 1
<11> Jan  1 00:00:53 0.0.0.0-1 POE[PoE Req]: hpc_poe_brcm.c(11144) 108 %% hpcBrcmPoeInit:Unit 1 - PoE controller requires Upgrading - Proceeding Firmware Upgrade.
<14> Jan  1 00:00:53 0.0.0.0-1 POE[PoE Req]: hpc_poe_brcm.c(11058) 106 %% Opened PoE Card 0 on UART interface file desc:/dev/ttyS1 for unit 1

I took a chance and decided to try again with latest 1920S (02.05) version and the PoE works without any issues now, possibly because I did the intermediate software update step.

What bothers me is that had I not checked with a PoE device before shipping out the Switch to the customer, even in its original software version, we would not have delivered a fully functionnal switch to them.

I wanted to know if this PoE issue had occured before and is a known issue (didn't see anything in the release notes) or just a fluke, so I can document it in our processes

Best Regards,

Connecting 2 1920 Switch stacks

Hi, I have 6 HP 1950 switches that I am deploying.

I was thinking of having 1 stack of 4 and 1 stack of 2, the stack of 2 will have edge connections and servers etc and the stack of 4 is all client PC's and Phones/Printers etc. They are side by side in our racks so close to each other.

I am confused about how best to uplink from the stack of 4 into the stack of 2.

I will be utilising the 2 SFP ports on each switch for the uplinks.

So on my 4 stack I will have 8 SFP ports to use and on the stack of 2 I will have 4 available.
I am trying to use as little cabling as possible for the uplinks while still having some redundancy.

PS1810 Microserver Gen8

Hi,

I am having issues with PS1810-8G locking up. The network setup is this:

Router -> PS1810 -> Microserver Gen8 with Windows Server 2016

The same PS1810 switch has QNAP 453A connected to it.

PS1810 crashes every single time I do the following after starting Microserver:

1)  Turn on the switch

2) Turn on Microserver

3) Login into Windows Server 2016 user account

4) Connect to QNAP share

5) Go into a second level directory on QNAP share

6) The switch stops working and all other devices coming of the switch loose connectivity

When I don't have the Microserver turned on other devices can browse through QNAP shares and there are no problems. I don't know if the issue is PS1810 or Microserver. This has been a problem ever since I purchased the switch but I previously 'solved' it by connecting a second switch to PS1810 and connecting Microserver to that. Today I moved around my equipment and regardless of where the Microserver is connected (directly to PS180 or to a second switch that connects to PS1810) the switch crashes.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? Any idea as to what I could do?

Thanks.

Hey guys,

Thank you in advance for help on this one.  I have 2 aruba 2530 switches connected by Fiber on port 52 on both switches.  The root swith work perfect but my 2nd switch will not route traffice on my "guest" or "Mgmt" vlan.  The internal (defuatl vlan1) works on both ends so that vlan is working but the other 2 are not.  Im sure this is something simple but I am not seeing it.  Can any one give me a hand?  I will attach the running configs of both switches.  Thank you in advance.

simple QoS on 1920G

Hello,

I have two wired/wireless networks on the switch, one is the default/untagged vlan 1 and the other is one wired client and one wireless client forming another vlan 508 which I would like to give higher priority. The wired client is directly connected to port 1, and the AP wireless client connected is on port 3, and the AP tags the vlan information. The traffic I would like to give priority is mostly/always from wired client to wireless, so from port 1 to port 3. Is that enough if I set the port priority of port 1 to something higher and then set the queues on port 1 and 3 accordingly (either give weight or setup an SP) ? Do I need a classifier/behavior/policy and port policy assignment for QoS to work ?

Thanks.

Hi

I have 4(A,B,C,D say) HP_5900 Switch, Sw A & B are in Stack_1 and C&D are another Stack_2(IRF)
Now we need to make connectivity between Stack_Switch1(A&B) to Stack_2(C&D) for that 2 Bridge_Agg created (45 & 46) at both end and passing common Vlan(12) on all interface associated with Bridge_A(45&46)>>>>>Vlan_interface 12 is created and assign a /30 ip

will this scenario work, without any Port(Bre_AGG) blocking or this will create l2_loop,
what happen if "undo stp globle enable" used

How to assign port to access particular internet in switch? Or how to throttle port speed?

$

I have three switches, A and B and C as show in attached picture, switch A connected with firewall device and provide internet connection to switch B and C. Switch B is connected to switch C, while switch C connected to switch A. PC at switch B need to access to PC at switch A for their share files. Company will sell the PC at switch B to customer, so the PC ip address and mac address at switch B will change frequently.

I planning to subscribe another internet plan (internet B as show in picture) and direct plug in the new internet modem/router to switch B while switch B still connected to switch C for access to share folder and internet A. Because some user at switch B need to access to share folder and internet A.

How do I assign particular port at switch B to access internet B only, and no access to internet A? Because some user at switch B are hogging internet A bandwidth and make internet speed slow down. Is there any way to limit the speed of the particular port to lower than 30KB/s? The attached picture show the network diagram and switch route default settings.

Hello! I'm having this next issue, I configured a RADIUS server in Windows 2012 R2 (clients and policies), and one of the Radius clients is a HPE 1920 switch, model JG928A, firmware Comware 5.20.

I can access just fine to the switch, through Radius protocol, but I cannot manage to access with admin permissons.

I already setted up in the Server Policies a Service-Type Administrative setting, but still not working.

I looked in forums and several places and documents, but I cannot find the answer to this. I would really appreciate some help on this

Thanks in advance! Regards

I am setting a new HP 1920S 48 switch, I wonder it is different with V19?? switch. I created a untagged VLAN 13 with interface IP 192.168.13.1, I connect a computer as 192.168.13.2.

My problem is why the computer cannot access the Default VLAN 1  ( cannot ping the switch IP 192.168.1.X), I found there have only one route for 192.168.13.0,

Am I missed any route, I cannot add some route like 192.168.1.0  or 0.0.0.0 to swith IP.

Please help.

HP 1920 Link Aggregation trunk hash policy

$

I'm configuring a bonded interface on my HP 1920 48port JG928A and I have it working, but would like to change the way it does the load balancing.

On my server (Debian 8 Jessie) I have setup both of my NICs in a bond and set the xmit_hash_policy to layer2+3 which means it should take into account the MAC and IP address when working out the hash to determine which packet goes on which ethernet device. This is not working. I can see that it's correctly set on the Debian box and I cannot find where in the HP 1920 this setting is kept.

Here is my Aggregation on the HP 1920;

interface Bridge-Aggregation1

  link-aggregation mode dynamic

  port link-type trunk

  port trunk permit vlan 1

Does the HP 1920 allow you to change the hash policy ?

What option do I put in here to set the hash prolicy to layer2+3 which will match the settings I have in debian as described in https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/networking/bonding.txt under xmit_hash_policy?

UPDATE

I looks like HP call the feature trunk-load-balance and it's settings are L2, L3 or L4. Is this feature available on the HP 1920?
