We have several HPE 1920-24G switches (JG924A). They are running the latest available firmware. Everything works great on the switch except for when we enable MAC Authentication. When it's enabled, all packets on the switch will drop once or twice every 1-5 minutes. For example, if I have 4 workstations plugged into the switch, all plugged into MAC Authentication enabled ports, and they are all pinging each other, once or twice ever few minutes the ping packets will all timeout at the same time. I only get 1 ping packet timing out, so it's a very brief issue. There are no logs on the switch indicating a problem and there is no MAC authentication happening at the time of the drop. This issue is happening on all of our 1920 switches. I was also able to reproduce it with a new spare 1920 we have and tested with. I contacted HP support and they said it was a configuration issue and offered paid support. If I disable MAC Authentication, the issue goes away, so it's definetly related.

Does anyone have helpful advice or expericence with MAC Authentication?

I downloaded a product called Service Desk for evaluation and I installed it, when tried to use, it asks for license but I don't have trial license in the downloaded package or the email sent for download link. When I contacted support they were not able to help me and gave this community link, does anybody know how to get trial license?

First post here apologies if it's in the wrong forum, it says it's running HPE Comware Platform Software, Software Version 7.1.045.

I have a HPE 1950 24G Switch that I am experiencing a constant CPU load around 15%. I checked the processes in the cli and there is one process constant around 9% called [PSED].

56     56  9.1  0.0   D  115   N        -  00:13:12 [PSED]

The overall cpu usage looks like this:

Slot 1 CPU 0 CPU usage:
15% in last 5 seconds
17% in last 1 minute
16% in last 5 minutes

So does anyone know what this process does and why it is constantly using about 1/10 of the processing power even when the Switch is doing nothing?

I recently upgraded to the latest firmware 1950_7.10.R3116P05 from 1950_7.10.R3116 (from here: https://h10145.www1.hpe.com/Downloads/SoftwareReleases.aspx?ProductNumber=JG962A) but this didn't change anything, it is still the same behavior.

I'm having trouble trunking between our Cisco Catalyst 4500 and HP 1920G switch. Vlan 5 is not propagating, all other vlans seem to be ok. I'm not able to manage the switch, and no devices in vlan 5 pick up dhcp IP.

    anyone is familar to configure this model OfficeConnect 1920S 48G which was recently purchased. I was confused on how to configure the trunk, Tagging and Untagging but I have no problem to configure VLAN IDs.

    anyone could enlighten me how should I start off with tagging or untagging or what are the first steps to configure the port especially for the uplink?I used to configure the V1910 or V1920 model but not this type of interface. I saw those trunks configuration with names like TRK1 which uses for what purpose?

i need to connect two switches via fiber optics. One is Siemens Scalance X104-2 (multimode, 1310nm, Full duplex to 100 Base-FX) another HP 1920-24G with 4 SFP ports. Is there any compatible SFP for this connection? I know that Siemens provide SFP, but i don't know is thei work together with HP switches.

For the past two days I have complaints from my users in a remote office. They are losing network connectivity for a few minutes at a time. When they get a connection back, another user pops up complaining of lost connection.

The syslog shows ports are randomly flapping up/down for a few minutes, then stablising. Then another port is affected. Over the course of about an hour, pretty much all users will be affected. These ports are mainly filled with desktop computers running a mix of Intel, Broadcom and Realtek NICs.

The topology is:

All endpoints (desktop PC) are plugged into HK-Switch1, ports 1-18.
Ports 19-24 are plugged into other network devices (a NAS, a photocopier, etc). Two ports are going to a single phyiscal server, running Hyper-V (one port for management, one for VM traffic). There are 3 VM's running on this host.

Upsteam this is plugged into a Meraki MX64 firewall (port 1)

I have a 2nd identical switch plugged into port 2 on the Meraki. I did have the hyper-v host plugged into both for fault tollerance, but have now disabled all ports on this switch, except the uplink port to the Meraki. The problems are still ongoing.

No changes have been made to either switch, the Meraki in months.

This problem does not appear to occur when the PC's are left on but no one using them. Due to a time difference, I have access to a quiet office for troubleshooting, but cannot get any of the ports to drop. I know that when my users arrive tomorrow, they will all start flapping again. 

I don't believe any rogue devices are being plugged in. The flapping would suggest an STP issue, but having disabled all the ports on the 2nd switch, I would expect this to be ruled out.

What else could be happening?

Just a quick question since i am new with switches from HP, when i change the VLAN from the interface on the port does it change it instant or i have to save the config untill it forces the change? Since i am working with live environments at this moment i do not want to take a risk.

We need to manage switches HPE OfficeConnect 1920S remotely but only HTTP/HTTPS Administration is available.

HPE 1920S has an special operating system, neither Procurve nor Comware. We are looking for technical documentation which describes how to enable SSH/TFTP services but we have not found anything yet.

Do you know how we could enable SSH/TFTP services in HPE 1920S switches?

I have an HP 1920 with 24 ports. There is an up stream firewall/router connected to port 24 and endpoints connected to ports 1, 17, 21 and 23. This is confirmed in the Device > Interface Stastics web page.

However, when I view the Network > ARP Management web page, I see a MAC address for 1 endpoint connected to Port 1. All other Mac addresses (there are 7) seemingly connected to Port 24.

I appreciate there are more MAC addresses than physically connected ports, as some of the enpoints are running VM's. However, I don't understand why ARP is showing them all connected to Port 24 - the firewall.

How is this?

I have the HP 1810-24G switch (not the Procurve version, so no cli or anything) and I want to connect several ESXI 6.5 machines to it. I talked to few people and the general advice is that all the ports that I connect to the ESXI - should be defined as "trunk" and do everything else on the ESXI/vCenter..

My switch doesn't have many options, and as far as trunk goes, it got  only 1 section which is in the attached screenshot, so do I only type a new name for a trunk and select the ports to the corresponding TRK number? (for example: trunk1, TRK 1 and selecting ports with the radio-buttons 10-18)

I have an HP1920 switch, i want to configure vlan and routing,

set port 23 vlan= tagged,( which is connected to an ISP router(192.168,1,1) as internet provider for laptops which connects using wifi).

and the rest of the ports 1-22=untagged( on port 1 i connected a second ISP router(172.168.10.10) for the desktop which is connected to switch using LAN cable.

now what i want is when the laptops connects to the first ISP through wifi it will get a dhcp(192.168.1.1/24) from the firts router and can see all the desktops which is directly connected the HP switch with dchp provided by the 2nd ISP htat gives a dhcp 172.168.10.1/24.

any advice is very much appreciated.

I'm new here and I'm not quite familiar with VLAN configuration. 

I have HP 1920-24G I am having trouble configuring the VLAN as show in the first picture. I already assigned port 1-8 as VLAN10 with IP address of 192.168.10.10/24. DSL Internet router is connected to port 1. My problem is PC's(network is DHCP enabled) connecting to port 2-8 has no IP address and we cannot connect to Internet.

Configuration on VLAN10 are on the photos below

Help questions

1. How can I configure my VLAN10 to have IP address
2. How can I connect my VLAN10 to the internet
3. And how can I connect my VLAN20 to other VLANs configured.

Nobody noticed, with regard to HPE OfficeConnect 1920S Switch Series, that HPE OfficeConnect Support Portal was not updated with latest PD.01.07 Firmware built (December 2017)?

The page related to HPE OfficeConnect 1920S Switch Series on the HPE OfficeConnect Support Portal still reports the PD.01.06 (June 2017) as latest Firmware build available for the entire series.

Sadly, as of today, related Release Notes document appears to be not yet available...maybe the download URL will be fixed soon.

The new PD.01.07 may (or may not) solve some issues reported recently on HPE Community about the HPE OfficeConnect 1920S Switch Series (as example the one reported here) but, without PD.01.07 Release Notes, it's hard to tell if that will be true or not.

Edit: gosh, discovered that the HPE OfficeConnect Support Portal was not kept up-to-date also with regard to HPE OfficeConnect 1950 Switch series...latest build reported is R3116 of June 2017 when, instead, the R3116P05 is available since October!
